Protecting Our Civil Liberties

Summary:

The New York Times has pushed this NSA blanket surveilance issue before, in the Clinton Administration, where it said:
“ Few dispute the necessity of a system like Echelon to apprehend foreign spies, drug traffickers and terrorists. . .

“ ... [an N.S.A. official assured the Times] that all Agency activities are conducted in accordance with the highest constitutional, legal and ethical standards.”

The story, by the way, was broken by an Australian television news show.  But I'm sure NSA officials must have leaked to the Times too.  And it goes without saying that they had a story in the works on this.  They couldn't possibly let such intrusion into our rights go unmentioned, could they?

And isn't it good to know that the unbiased MSM covers these issues exactly the same way in Democratic and Republican Administrations?

And in other news, I now own the Brooklyn Bridge.  I bought it from James Risen today.  Got a really great deal on it too.

Hat tip: the guy who says "Heh" a lot.
